From silver screen to silver coin, DAFFY DUCK remains a Looney Tunes favourite
Posted by Blog Team on
DAFFY DUCK made his debut in Porky’s Duck Hunt (1937), the popular animated short in which Porky’s comic attempts at duck hunting resulted in hilarious exchanges between the pair. The ‘crazy darn fool duck’ struck such an immediate chord with audiences that it was almost inevitable he’d emerge as one of all-time great cartoon characters.
Scheming, self-centred, irascible and reckless, DAFFY cemented his stardom with leading roles in countless Looney Tunes and later Merrie Melodies cartoons, often alongside BUGS BUNNY with whom he shared one of the best known cartoon rivalries.
Voiced by Mel Blanc, ‘the man of a thousand voices’ gave DAFFY DUCK his famous lisp and the defining catchphrase – “that’s dethspicable!” A wacky character if ever there was one, DAFFY DUCK’s side-splitting antics continue to attract new fans of all ages.
2018 Looney Tunes – DAFFY DUCK
1/2oz Silver Proof Coin
In quick succession to the BUGS BUNNY release from our new Warner Bros. collaboration, this second Looney Tunes coin portrays DAFFY DUCK in typically agitated mood – hands on hips with a comically exasperated stare.
Like the initial release featuring his celebrated adversary, DAFFY looks out from concentric circles inspired by the iconic Looney Tunes logo.
Stay tuned for more releases!
Perfect for collectors of exclusive memorabilia, no more than 5,000 of each Looney Tunes character coin scheduled for release in this series will be issued. Each coin comes individually housed in a clear acrylic display stand.
