New Disney coins put Mickey on the rostrum

Released in 1935, The Band Concert was the first Mickey Mouse cartoon made in colour. During the highly acclaimed Disney short, the hero and his band are determined to complete their rendition of The William Tell Overture despite numerous distractions, including an unwelcome flute accompaniment played by none other than Donald Duck!
The Mickey Through the Ages coin collection celebrates Disney’s original, much-loved character during his hugely successful cartoon career. The first release, comprising a 1oz silver proof coin and a 1/4oz gold companion, portrays Mickey from a 1930s promotional poster for The Band Concert.
