What’s New? Perth Mint collector coin releases for January 2018

Posted by Blog Team on

The New Year is a time to set new goals and we’re aiming for the stars with our plans to bring you the most innovative and exciting range of precious metal collectable coins available. And if January is a yardstick of our intentions, it’s going to be a cracking 12 months!

Let’s begin with a major news announcement. Under an exclusive licensing agreement reached with the entertainment giant Warner Bros. we will be crafting and creating superb quality releases celebrating some of the best loved movies ever produced. The sensational line up of coins also features many of your favourite cartoon characters – including much loved icons from the famous Looney Tunes series of animated shorts.

The amazing Warner Bros. program gets underway this month with a release celebrating Scooby-Doo, the comical canine hero who has been entertaining kids of all ages for almost 50 years. With a strictly limited mintage of 5,000 coins worldwide, it’s an awesome collectable for devotees of the loveable great dane.

In other interesting developments, you’ve indicated that coins are fast becoming favoured gifts for all kinds of celebrations. In response, our designer have been working hard to develop delightful new designs and themes to mark many of life’s special moments.

This month we’re pleased to unveil an adorable new design for our Always Together series (especially popular around Valentine’s Day!) and a gorgeously re-imagined Newborn release to celebrate the joy surrounding the arrival of a baby in 2018.

As well as an impressive new take on Birthday coins, we’ve also developed a Graduation coin – a great way for proud parents and grandparents to reward hard working primary, secondary and university students for successfully completing their studies in 2018.

Among other Perth Mint coins we’re proud to announce this January, don’t miss the latest Opal Lunar release celebrating the Year of the Dog. Also marking the Chinese New Year is an extraordinary antiqued high relief creation featuring the symbolically auspicious Phoenix.

For more details of these and other new releases including the final coin from our landmark Australian Posters of World War I series, please browse through the electronic bulletin above or visit Recent Releases.

Best wishes for 2018 – The Perth Mint Blog Team.
