What’s new? The Perth Mint collector coin releases for April 2018

As Anzac Day approaches, the nation will focus on the remarkable job our armed forces undertake and remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of our country’s freedoms. This year is especially significant given that it is 100 years since the end of the First World War, one of the most destructive conflicts in human history.

Over the past five years we have worked closely with the Australian War Memorial to bring collectors The ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary Coin Series. As part of the final year’s offering, we are pleased to unveil a moving 5oz silver tribute inspired by the Hall of Memory at the heart of Memorial in Canberra. With representations of four of its famous stained glassed windows and a coloured depiction of the stunning Byzantine dome, this special release has a limited mintage of just 300.

The delightful combination of a cool cartoon cat and two gorgeous pink diamonds on exclusive Pink Panther gold and platinum ingots make superb collectables for fans of the hugely popular movies and animated shows.

If the latest sci-fi blockbuster is your thing, don’t miss the DAITO and SHO additions to our new series celebrating Steven Spielberg’s stunning new movie, READY PLAYER ONE.

Or if, like most people, you enjoy classic Looney Tunes characters, then check out our new release depicting DAFFY DUCK, the ‘crazy darn fool duck’ who has been delighting kids of all ages for 81 years!

The Australian Wedge-tailed Eagle Coin Series has made a deep impression with collectors around the world. Created by internationally-renowned engraver John Mercanti, the third design explores the relationship between a chick and its parents – seen in stunning high relief clarity on the latest gold addition to the series.

From one spectacular feathered friend to another, we’re offering a dramatic high relief, antiqued silver coin featuring an exceptionally detailed design of a kookaburra. Keen eyed locals will doubtless associate the design with the Perth’s botanic gardens given representations of the city in the background.

This month also marks the release of another major royal commemorative series. Her Majesty celebrates 65 years as monarch on 2 June and with approval from Buckingham Palace we have created three elegant gold and silver tributes in honour of her remarkable achievement.
